Named after a doughnut
Bambalooni is the Tunisian doughnut: dough fried until golden, then finished with sugar or honey. In Tunisia it’s the seaside treat of Sidi Bou Saïd. Here it’s made to order, sweet or savory.

Look for the blue Bambalooni sign on Lighthouse Road, on the Dahab seafront. Inside, a blue-and-white room with deep sofas and the Red Sea outside the windows. Divers between dives, travellers passing through and people who live in Dahab all end up at the same tables.
